There are many things to love about this recent video from maker/creator Joseph’s Machines. At times, I felt like I was watching a Wes Anderson film, which is likely because the video is set to music remisicent of Alexandre Desplat’s score for The French Dispatch, or perhaps the quirky mice cameo (re: dalmation mice from The Royal Tenenbaums), or even the machine’s vague resemblance to Anderson’s use of miniatures in The Grand Budapest Hotel.
In addition to all of that, watching this machine work creates a series of fabulous, unexpected moments born from mundane objects. The video even has its fair share of suspense! Just when you think the whole thing’s been derailed, you realize it was part of the plan all along.
Machine to pass a bottle of wine across a reaaallllly long table. This is the follow up video to “Pass the Salt” and “Pass the Pepper”, even more complicated and chaotic than the other ones! Including live mice, an electric saw and lots of smashed glass!
