Redditor dcruzer of Hip Hip Handmade did something for herself in February by carving out the time to make a costume. She came up with a personal “treat yo self” challenge and made a Regina Mills/Evil Queen ensemble from Once Upon a Time. It gave her an excuse to do something for herself and to learn more sewing techniques. She chose one of Regina’s elegant ensembles as inspiration and got to work using velvet and cotton fabrics, as well as tulle. She made the dress pattern herself and also drew out the detailing you see around the neck. She says:
After a LOT of messing around with different puff paints (admittedly, to be cheap), I finally cracked and bought glitter HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl). I had my Cricut cut the design out, and nervously ironed the design onto tulle. Cover up the design with fabric, with an iron on high, applying pressure! Covering the tulle with fabric protects it from melting!
