Yaya Han made a Gamora costume in October, but instead of choosing the look seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, she chose Gamora’s comic book ensemble. It’s much different than the Marvel Cinematic Universe look — for one thing, it includes armor. Yaya wanted to attempt making a set of foam armor to see how the material compares to Worbla. She says:
The entire suit of armor is made with 2mm and 5mm EVA foam, procured from Cosplay Shop. I agonized for 4 weeks over this build, using a new technique I’d never tried before, on a design that is very detailed and form fitting, and thus challenging to pattern. The bodice alone comprises of almost 40 individual foam pieces, each shaped and beveled with a dremel tool, and glued together like a puzzle.
She says the sewing portion was much easier. Watch the video below to see how the sewn portion of the costume was made.
