Ornitographies Captures The Singular Motion of Flocks of Birds #ArtTuesday

Xavi Bou has captured the motion of birds through the air like no other artist. Learn more at JUXTAPOZ:

By combining a series of photographs taken in succession, Spanish photographer Xavi Bou creates one flowing image of birds flying in a singular motion. Unlike other motion analysis which preceded it, Ornitographies moves away from the scientific approach of chronophotography used by photographers like Eadweard Muybridge and Etienne-Jules Marey. The approach used by Xavi Bou to portray the scene is not invasive; but rejects the distant study, resulting in organic form images that stimulate the imagination. “It is the balance between art and science,” he explains, “a project of naturalist discovery, and, at the same time, an exercise of visual poetry.”
