Podcast: The Science and Engineering of Nuclear Weapons, with Stevens Associate Prof Alex Wellerstein | via @omegataupodcast

Omega Tau’s Markus Voelter has a fascinating interview-podcast with Stevens Institute’s Alex Wellerstein, a “historian of science who specializes in the history of nuclear weapons and nuclear secrecy.” (Be sure to check out Alex’s Nukemap which shows the level of destruction in your vicinity if a nuclear event were to happen.) There’s a lot of ‘science wisdom’ in this podcast, from fissionable processes to our history of understanding of nuclear potential.

Give a listen here.

In this episode we chat about the science and engineering involved in nuclear weapons. Our guest is Alex Wellerstein of the Stevens Institute of Technology. We talk about atomic bombs as well as hydrogen bombs, how to refine the necessary fuels as well as a little bit of history.
