Boba Fett Helmet – Easy assembly #3DThursday #3DPrinting

MikeKing2008 shares:

I tried printing the original version of this helmet, but the jigsaw puzzle assembly was cut strangely with open surfaces. This was too difficult to print and was a nightmare during assembly. The pieces didn’t fit well so I did a remix of the full helmet.
I took the full build and sliced it into rings. These printed better without lifting and assembled easier. Also added 2 missing pins for the antenna hinge from the original make. I printed the model at 95% of the original scaling for better fitment. (I wear a size large motorcycle helmet).
Recommended print scaling of STL files:
-Main Helmet p1-5: 9.5%
-Pins (hinge and limiter): 100%
-All other accessories: 95%
You may want to scale differently, but recommend staying 10:1 accessories to main helmet.

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
