When our daughter declared she wanted to be a “steampunk girl” for Halloween this year we knew there would be some fun opportunities for costume hacking and prop modding! She got these prop goggles with a decidedly clockwork aesthetic, so we decided to add some “ticking” LEDs. Now, you can make your own using this new guide!
The two NeoPixel rings are controlled by a Gemma M0 running CircuitPython. This makes it very fast to iterate on the code for timing and colors, since there’s no IDE, no compiling, and no flashing. Just edit the main.py file in a text editor, and watch it update every time you hit save! I think the Gemma M0 may be destined to become a new favorite for costumers, cosplayers, and prop builders.
