From the Adafruit Forums, Jeff Kaler demonstrates a Star Trek the original series (TOS) medical computer (video above). The Type 2 Bio Computer would analyze samples with lights and sound and this is a very faithful recreation. Jeff writes:
The electronics are an Arduino Mega, (an Adafruit) Music Maker Shield, and (an Adafruit) TLC5947 (24-channel 12-bit PWM LED driver).
