Lithophane Mood Lamp – The Great Wave off Kanagawa #3DThursday #3DPrinting

Lithophane Mood Lamp The Great Wave off Kanagawa by hyuck0118 Thingiverse

Add some serious vibes to your chill out spot. Shared by hyuck0118 on Thingiverse:

As the title says, these are lithophane mood lamps. I actually started making this with the thought of making a candle holder (which is why I have the hole on the top) but realized the PLA is not very good against the heat emitted from candles.

The files are huge (approximately 250MB for each) where one is slightly bigger than the other. The file that says “large” has the top hole open while the one that says “medium” has it closed. There is a third file in the Things section. THIS FILE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS PROJECT: It was put in because I had to have an stl file below 250MB in order to upload this post.

Hope you all enjoy and let me know if something comes up! Tips are, of course, appreciated and will be used to make better new designs!

Every Thursday is #3dthursday here at Adafruit! The DIY 3D printing community has passion and dedication for making solid objects from digital models. Recently, we have noticed electronics projects integrated with 3D printed enclosures, brackets, and sculptures, so each Thursday we celebrate and highlight these bold pioneers!

Have you considered building a 3D project around an Arduino or other microcontroller? How about printing a bracket to mount your Raspberry Pi to the back of your HD monitor? And don’t forget the countless LED projects that are possible when you are modeling your projects in 3D!
